Residential Design - Kitchen & Bath
The Kitchen and Bath course required one complete renovation of a kitchen and a bath according to a specified style drawn from a hat for each project.
Concept Statement: Create a redesign for a small kitchen using a 1960s retro styling while incorporating energy-efficient and sustainable products.
Existing Conditions: The existing kitchen and dining space was drawn for analysis and comparison.
Sketch Ideas: Roughly scaled plans for the space were sketched to explore various layouts.
Final Design: The space plan evolved from the rough plans to a final design. Minimum clearance requirements were met for usability optimization. Special consideration of traffic flow and vantage points helped the plan improve to best meet the needs of the client. A nomenclature plan was developed to detail the cabinetry.
Elevations: Elevations for the kitchen feature the appliances as well as the new island and built-in seating.
Perspective: A perspective rendering was completed to highlight the finishes, fixtures and appliances in detail.
Finishes, Fixtures & Appliances: The finishes, fixtures and appliances were selected and are represented on the following layouts.
Final Boards: The final presentation included all aspects of the design process, from evaluating the existing conditions to the final floor plan, nomenclature plan and material specifications.

Existing Conditions: The existing bathroom was drawn in plan view for analysis and comparison.
Space Planning: Roughly scaled plans for the space were developed to explore various layouts.
Final Design: The space plan evolved from the rough sketches to the final design with a new orientation for the entry. Special consideration of storage and user habits influenced the design to best meet the needs of the clients.
Elevations: Elevations for all four walls were completed to show the materials, finishes and styling elements of the design.
Perspective: A perspective rendering captures the Italian styling in details such as the light and plumbing fixtures.
Finishes and Fixtures: The finishes and fixtures feature Italian products and materials.
Final Boards: The layout for the presentation boards was considered to include all required drawings and the material samples in an organized manner.
The final presentation included various aspects of the design process, from the existing plan analysis and style research to the final plans and renderings with material samples.
