Commercial Design - Hospitality
20,000 sf - Mykonos, Greece
Project: As a team project, develop concepts and schematic designs for a boutique hotel, called Prizm, on the island of Mykonos, Greece. Individually, further develop one of the public spaces - the bar - in addition to a guest suite.
Design Concept: Our team decided to pursue a theme that incorporated a traditional Mediterranean style of bright colors, and also had a typical Greek feel to meet the expectations of visiting international tourists. While the color scheme was to be traditional, the furniture and finishes were to be more contemporary and utilize modern advances in functionality.
Adjacency Studies: Adjacencies were explored to determine the best arrangement for the dining, lounging and employee areas with respect to traffic flow.
Functional Considerations: Prototypes for important functional areas were completed to determine minimum space requirements.
Block Diagrams: Scaled block diagram sketches explored area placements within the building envelope.
Sketches: Sketches were explored for various areas and details of the hotel spaces.
Schematic Designs: The team worked together to develop plans that met the client's requirements.
Team Presentation: The schematic designs were developed and presented by the entire team. The boards included the overall plans for the public areas, as well as materials and finishes for the dining, bar and lounge areas.
Elevations: Elevations of the bar feature the contemporary elements of the space, in particular the lighting and finishes.
Perspective: A perspective rendering of the bar lounge area highlights the cozy feel of the built-in seating.
Detail Drawings: Detail drawings for elements of the bar illustrate how the fixtures and finishes integrate with the design.
Furniture, Fixtures and Finishes: The furniture, fixtures and finishes used in the bar follow the Mediterranean theme and traditional Greek color scheme while also featuring contemporary styling.
Guest Suite Design
Elevations: Elevations of the guest suite feature the materials and finishes and show ceiling details.
Perspectives: Perspective renderings of the guest suite show the soothing elements of the contemporary theme.
Furniture, Fixtures and Finishes: The furniture, fixtures and finishes used throughout the guest suite follow the Mediterranean theme while using contemporary products.
Final Boards: The final presentation included rendered drawings and materials for a guest suite.
